The Sublette County Commission, sitting as the county boundary board, approved a resolution Tuesday (May 24) that will return the "gerrymandered" portion of Sublette County School District No. 1 back to District No. 9, after 40 years. This area, known as Tax District 102 includes the Wyoming Range and lands located south and southwest of Big Piney. Both school districts support the change.
Sublette County Assessor Janet L. Montgomery said that the proposal will now go to the State Board of Education for consideration. That board has 90 days to approve the change, reject it, or to ask for more information. Once the state board approves the change, Montgomery said she will have 10 days to record all the information in the county records and to notify the districts of the change.
