Football game, parade, Gorbachev speech highlight UW Homecoming schedule

LARAMIE, WYOMING, September 30, 2011 — "Wanted: Cowboys of the West" is the theme of the 2011 University of Wyoming Homecoming, Oct. 13-15. Activities will include a speech by former Soviet Union President Mikhail Gorbachev, a dance, a pig roast and the time-honored parade and football game.

Among the highlights: Thursday, Oct. 13 -- Gov. Matt Mead speaks at the Keith and Thyra Thomson Honors Convocation, 3 p.m., College of Arts and Sciences auditorium; UW volleyball vs. TCU, 7 p.m., UniWyo Sports Complex; blast from the past fashion show and 80s-themed Homecoming dance, 8 p.m., Wyoming Union Ballroom.
Friday, Oct. 14 - Free breakfast on the lawn, 8-10 a.m., Prexy's Pasture; ASUW pig roast, 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Simpson Plaza; speech by former Soviet Union President Mikhail Gorbachev, 3:30 p.m., Arena-Auditorium, free and open to the public; Homecoming Sing, 7 p.m., Arena-Auditorium.
Saturday, Oct. 15 -- Cowboy Walk and Pep Rally, 9:15 a.m., west parking lot, Hilton Garden Inn & UW Conference Center; Homecoming parade, 10 a.m., starts at Ninth and Ivinson Streets; UW football vs. UNLV, noon, War Memorial Stadium; UW volleyball vs. New Mexico, 7 p.m., UniWyo Sports Complex.
