Rock Springs Resource Management Plan Revision Final Scoping Report available
by Bureau of Land Management
January 14, 2012
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Rock Springs Field Office (RSFO) has released the Final Scoping Report for the Rock Springs Resource Management Plan (RMP) revision and associated environmental impact statement (EIS).
The document summarizes the 666 unique comments received during the 60-day initial public scoping period which ran between Feb. 1 and April 11, 2011, as initiated by the publication of the Notice of Intent in the Federal Register. As part of this scoping period, a series of open house meetings were held in Lander, Lyman, Rock Springs and Farson, Wyoming in February and March 2011, where detailed posters and handouts were available to the public and opportunities to provide comments were provided.
The public comments received will help the BLM identify impacts, develop planning criteria and evaluate existing land use decisions while drafting the RMP revision and EIS.
The final scoping report and additional project details are available at http://www.blm.gov/wy/st/en/programs/Planning/rmps/RockSprings/docs.html.
The next opportunity for the public to participate in the RMP revision and EIS process will be the public comment period for the draft which is expected to be released this fall.
