Pinedale Nordic Ski Grooming Report, March 14, 2012
March 14, 2012
(Wednesday, 9:15AM report) CCC Ponds trails groomed last night – pretty firm, should be really good skiing there today. Old Road Trail, Kelly Park, Kelly Tie-in were groomed early this morning. Temperatures not cold enough for the snow to be set up, so conditions will be soft, especially as the day progresses – those who don’t like hard packed trails should like the conditions. Skyline Drive road is dry. Portions of the White Pine Ski Area road and parking lot are a bit slushy, so be cautious where you park. Recommend not using the parking lot by the Nordic Barn at White Pine, rather use the bigger area closer to the lodge to park. If you have dogs, recommend going to the Kelly Park area or park in the 1st turn out past White Pine and accessing Tree Loop and upper trails from there. The weather is nice today.
Ski trail grooming at the CCC Ponds must end March 15th due to wildlife restrictions. There will be no grooming thereafter. Trails above will be groomed as the snow conditions and weather allow to the end of the season. Things are starting to melt off at the Golf Course, so future grooming will depend on the ground and weather conditions. Last year the season ended about the 10th of April. We anticipate just a couple more weeks left to enjoy the cross-country ski season.
Dogs permitted only on the Old Road Trail, Lower Surveyor Park and Kelly Park trails. Skiers are asked to please pick up after your dog’s droppings.
County crews keep Skyline Drive road plowed to the White Pine Parking lot. No services at the lodge (White Pine is closed for the season), however there is a new Nordic Warming Hut with a vaulted restroom at the trailhead near the White Pine parking lot.
