Republicans held their convention for Sublette County, Wyoming on Saturday, March 10th at the old elementary school in Pinedale, Wyoming. Walt Bousman, Sublette County GOP Chairman, presided.
Three persons were nominated for National Delegate. Each National Delegate was require to be pledged to one of the Republican candidates for President, or could choose to run "uncommitted". The three who were nominated were:
Bill Cramer (pledged to Mitt Romney) Bill Winney (pledged to Rick Santorum) Bob Brackett (running as uncommitted)
Bill Cramer, pledged to Mitt Romney, won.
The vote totals were: Cramer/Romney – 18 Winney/Santorum – 12 Brackett/uncommitted – 9
Every other Presidential election year, Sublette County sends a National Delegate to the National GOP Convention, sending an Alternate the other years. This time, it was Sublette County’s turn to send a National Delegate. Bill Cramer was Sublette County’s choice to go to Tampa Bay, Florida at the end of August as a pledged national delegate for Mitt Romney. Should he fail to show up, the National Alternate elected in Teton County will take his place.
The Wyoming Republican State Convention will be held in Cheyenne on April 14th. Nine delegates from Sublette County can attend the State GOP Convention. Delegates who were elected to attend were:
Walt Bousman (an automatic delegate) Bill Barney Bob Brackett Colleen Martin Don Moritsch Regi Moritsch Michelle Pape Bob Rule Bill Winney
A total of nine alternates were also elected to the State GOP Convention. These people will be seated in the event the delegates do not show up. The nine who were elected, in the order that they will be seated, were:
Pam Murdock Alan Ziegler Curt Covill Craig Lowham Tom Murdock Dave Lankford Trudy Arnold Doug Vickery Shawn Buchanan
Democrats, who combine their caucus and Convention into one single event, will hold their event in Sublette County on April 14th. There is little doubt that President Obama will be their nominee for President.
