Flag Alert: U.S. Flag at half staff on Memorial Day
Monday, May 28th, Sunrise to Noon (half day)
May 25, 2012
In accordance with US Code: Title 4,7., Governor Matt Mead has ordered that both the U.S. Flag and State of Wyoming Flag be flown at half-staff from sunrise on Monday, May 28, 2012, and remain at half-staff until noon only, then raised to the top of the staff as part of the National Memorial Day. Ordered this the 25th day of May, 2012.
Flag etiquette On Memorial Day the flag is raised briskly to the top of the staff and then solemnly lowered to the half-staff position, where it remains only until noon. It is then raised to full-staff for the remainder of the day.
The half-staff position remembers the more than one million men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. At noon their memory is raised by the living, who resolve not to let their sacrifice be in vain, but to rise up in their stead and continue the fight for liberty and justice for all. Memorial Day is to honor of the men and women who have given their lives in service to our country.
