The Bridger-Teton National Forest plans to close the Fremont Lake Campground and Upper Fremont Lake Boat Launch Site on the Pinedale Ranger District during the 2013 summer season to allow for reconstruction. Design changes at these sites include improved roads with two-way traffic to access the Upper Fremont Boat Site, a new boat ramp and dock, new pull-through camp units for larger RV’s at the southern end of the campground, upgraded toilet facilities and camping units, and construction of a new group campsite. Originally, construction was scheduled to take place over a two-year period during the 2012 and 2013 seasons and began late last fall. All construction activities are now compressed into the 2013 summer/fall season to expedite completion of the project. The expected completion date is November 15, 2013. If the project is completed earlier than anticipated, the campground and/or boat site will open to the public at that time. Reservations will not be accepted for the Fremont Lake Campground during the 2013 season. The Lower Fremont Lake Boat Site, located on the southwest shore of Fremont Lake, will remain open to boaters throughout the summer season. Alternate camping is available at a number of sites on the Pinedale Ranger District, including campgrounds at Half Moon Lake, Elkhart Park, New Fork Lake, and Boulder Lake. "We know how important this particular campground and boat site is to the public. We also recognize that closing these facilities will be inconvenient. The renovations are necessary to address health and safety issues, improve accessibility, and help meet visitor expectations for quality facilities at Fremont Lake," said District Ranger John Moore. Additional information regarding construction plans and progress updates regarding this project will be available at the Pinedale Ranger District, 307-367-4326 as well as the Bridger-Teton National Forest website www.fs.usda.gov/btnf/.
