August 11, 2015
The Pinedale Fine Arts Council (PFAC) is proud to present Grand Rapids, Michigan indie-folk-rock act The Crane Wives on Friday, August 14 at the American Legion Park in Pinedale. Local alt-country act The Boom & The Bust (performing as a 4-piece) will kick off the evening at 5:30 pm with an opening set followed by the Crane Wives at 7 pm. This free show will conclude PFAC’s Soundcheck Summer Music Series.
"We couldn’t be happier with the turnouts this year," PFAC’s Tim Ruland said in summation of the 4-show Soundcheck Series. "We’ve had our biggest audiences in almost a decade of putting these shows on and all the bands have been fantastic. The Crane Wives were the first band we booked for this year’s series and we’re really excited to have an under-the-radar act on the cusp of becoming really big!"
Having just released a very ambitious double album, "Coyote Stories," via their own label, The Crane Wives will go on to play a number of prominent music festivals across the country and tour with Boston favorites Lake Street Dive following their stop in Pinedale.
Utilizing three-part vocal harmonies, eclectic instrumentation, and a passion for song-craft, The Crane Wives create organic music that is both accessible and innovative. Each live show features contagious energy as well as original music that ranges from whisper quiet ballads to danceable grooves.
The band formed in late August of 2010 and has released two full-length albums, entitled "Safe Ship, Harbored" and "The Fool in Her Wedding Gown" and the above mentioned "Coyote Stories" will be released this month.
In addition to an awesome evening of music, there will be free yoga before the show (4 pm), St. Andrews in the Pines will be selling food, and the Boulder Store will be providing libations. As a special treat for the final show of the summer, White Pine Ski Resort will be raffling off a free ski pass for the 2015-16 season (raffle tickets $5, must be present to win). PFAC has a few surprises of their own planned as well.
The Soundcheck Summer Music Series is presented by the Pinedale Fine Arts Council with support from the Town of Pinedale, the Sublette County Recreation Board, the Pinedale Travel and Tourism Commission and the Wyoming Cultural Trust. For more information please visit pinedalefinearts.com.
