Southwest Regional Science Fair held Feb. 23

Western Wyoming Community College hosted the Southwest Regional Science Fair on Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2016 in Rock Springs. Students from across southwest Wyoming attended to show their innovative science projects, and then presenting their methodologies and results.
Competitors were divided into two divisions: the Junior Division, for students in grades six through eight, and the Senior Division, for students in grades nine through 12. Projects were judged on such categories including Scientific Thought, Engineering Goals, Thoroughness, Skill, and Clarity.
Category descriptions for the competition included: Animal Sciences; Behavioral & Social Sciences; Biochemistry/Cellular & Molecular Biology/Bioinformatics & Computational Biology; Biomedical & Health Sciences; Chemistry; Earth & Environmental Sciences; Energy & Transportation; Engineering Design & Innovation; Environmental Management; Materials & Consumer Sciences; Microbiology; Physics/Astronomy/Planetary Sciences; Plant Sciences; and Robotics/Computer/Mathematical Sciences.
