Applicants sought for Wyoming Public Lands Initiative
Collaborative review process for the three Wilderness Study Areas in Sublette County
by Sublette County Commissioners
May 4, 2016
The Sublette County Board of County Commissioners has opted to participate in the Wyoming Public Lands Initiative (WPLI). The WPLI is a collaborative County-led process intended to result in a single, State-wide legislative lands package which is broadly supported by public lands stakeholders in Wyoming.
The decision to participate in the WPLI necessitates the appointment of a WPLI Advisory Committee for Sublette County. The mission of the Advisory Committee is to conduct a collaborative review process for the three Wilderness Study Areas (WSA) in Sublette County.
Upon completion of the review process, the Advisory Committee will make a recommendation to the Board of County Commissioners regarding the status of the WSAs in Sublette County. Once Advisory Committee recommendation(s) receive County Commissioner approval, the Wyoming County Commissioners Association, in cooperation with the Office of the Governor and the offices of Wyoming’s federal congressional delegation, will review the recommendations from all participating counties and to the maximum extent practicable include those recommendations in a legislative draft to be introduced in Congress.
Applicants for the Advisory Committee will be chosen from the following membership categories: Agriculture/Ranching, Sportsman, Motorized Recreation, Conservation, Energy, Non-Motorized Recreation, the County Conservation District and the General Public. Applicants who are only interested in one specific WSA should indicate so on the Advisory Committee application. Applications for appointment to the Sublette County WPLI Advisory Committee may be downloaded from the County website (www.sublettewyo.com) or be obtained from County Planner, Bart Myers at the County Courthouse, located at 21 South Tyler Avenue in Pinedale. Completed applications are to be returned to the Sublette County Commission by June 6, 2016.
Questions regarding the application process should be directed to Bart Myers at 307-367-4375 or by email to bart.myers@sublettewyo.com. For more information regarding the Wyoming Public Lands Initiative or Wilderness Study Areas go to the County website (www.sublettewyo.com).
