Museum sees good attendance over Rendezvous Days

The Museum of the Mountain Man is pleased with the overall attendance of their living history programs and admissions into the Museum over Green River Rendezvous Days in Pinedale, July 7-10th, according to Museum Director Angie Thomas. The Museum had 35 living history programs which were all well attended and gift shop sales were up. "We had great visitation this year, our attendance counts show over 1900 program attendees over the four-day weekend. We had many local visitors as well as visitors from many other states and countries," Thomas said.
The Museum expected a bump in attendance this year due to the recent release of the award-winning movie "The Revenant" which was roughly based on the grizzly bear attack on mountain man Hugh Glass in 1823. One of the Museum’s feature exhibits is a life-size 3-D diorama depicting the grizzly bear attack on Hugh Glass.
The Museum’s Rendezvous weekend programs included an all-day BOCES bus tour of historic Rendezvous and fur trade sites on Thursday, many living history demonstrations by the American Mountain Men (AMM), the 2016 Rocky Mountain Fur Trade Journal author book signing and fur trade panel discussion, Journal author talks, children’s programs by Lapita Frewin, Plains Indian Encampment and talks by "Bad Hand" Michael Terry, and evening campfire stories by the AMM. Pitchfork Fondue brought back the favorite buffalo burgers for lunches on Friday and Saturday.
"We especially want to thank Sublette BOCES, the Sublette County Museum Board, Jonah Energy, Ultra Petroleum, Hindsite, Inc., and Moose Creek Catering for their contributions to our Rendezvous programs this year," Thomas said.
