October 12, 2016
The Museum of the Mountain Man and the Bureau of Land Management are happy to present National Fossil Day.
The National Park Service and the American Geosciences Institute are partnering to host the fifth annual National Fossil Day on October 12, 2016 during Earth Science Week. National Fossil Day is a celebration organized to promote public awareness and stewardship of fossils, as well as to foster a greater appreciation of their scientific and educational value.
The Museum of the Mountain Man is Sublette County’s local venue for this fun nationwide event. Come to the museum to meet paleontologist and geologist Dr. Sue Ann Bilbey and talk to her about her work in Wyoming's Jonah Gas Field. Visitors are also invited to check out the museum's newly redesigned paleontology exhibit, which now features a toe bone from a giant prehistoric camel, and kids are welcome to make their own fossils.
