by Pinedale Online! February 9, 2017 A winter storm on the night of Tuesday, February 7th brought very strong wind and blowing snow to western Wyoming. The wind caused multiple power poles to actually snap in the Upper Green River Valley and in Jackson Hole, causing many residents to lose power for several hours. The worst instance was in Teton Village when a line of Lower Valley Energy power poles literally snapped over and downed the lines. Jackson Hole Mountain Resort ski area is currently closed indefinitely as a result. Several rural ranches on the west side of the Green River between Daniel and Big Piney lost their power when several power poles snapped over downing lines. Residents in Kendall Valley lost power Tuesday and Wednesday nights through Lower Valley Energy provider, but it is not certain the cause of those two outages. |
