Annie and Chance Stevie went into the Cowboy Shop today to get their hats fixed by Solon Bing. They had been working hard in thaw conditions on Wade Tibbets’ place rescuing calves from high water. "I think we had 6 ropes on one when we finally got it pulled out of the water with a backhoe," said Chance.

I asked Solon what it cost to fix up a hat. "Nothing," he said. "I don't think we've ever charged for it."

"Good thing," said Chance. "Or I'd be broke."
