Hug a Plug

Looking for a way to be helpful? As winter snow gets deeper and deeper, the snow tends to pile up around the area fire hydrants. In case of a fire, that means precious time is lost for firefighters digging out a hydrant to access water to fight a fire. If you have time, energy, a strong energetic teenager, or better yet some heavy duty equipment, our local firefighters would greatly appreciate it if you would adopt your neighborhood hydrant and keep it clear of snow over the winter. Dig at least a three foot radius clearance around the hydrant is recommended to accommodate firefighters and hoses. Thank you!
