Ex-Pinedale wrestler is regional winner

Keegan Gehlhausen of Pinedale, a junior at Chadron State College in western Nebraska, won the 184-pound championship at the Super Region VI Tournament at Gunnison. Colorado, last weekend (March 1, 2025), and will be competing at the NCAA Division II National Tournament in Indianapolis on Friday and Saturday, March 13-14, 2025.
Gehlhausen dominated his weight class at regionals. The lanky redshirt junior pinned his first two opponents, San Francisco State's Gavin Funk in 2:15 and Cal Poly Humboldt's Micaiah Montalbin in 3:27, before winning a 14-2 major decision over Colorado State-Pueblo's Donn Greer in the semifinals.
In his championship bout, the No. 4-nationally ranked Gehlhausen met Nebraska-Kearney's No. 12-ranked Jacari Deal. The match went the distance, but Gehlhausen won a 7-1 decision to claim the title and build his season record to 23-2.
While Gehlhausen also qualified for nationals two years ago, this was first regional championship, He was recently voted the outstanding 184-pound wrestler in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference for the 2025 season.
Gehlhausen was a three-time state champion in the Wyoming high school ranks. He was first at 106 pounds as a freshman in 2018, won the gold medal again in 2019 at 126, slipped to fifth place as a junior at 150 in 2020 when he battled injuries and won the 170-pound championship as a senior with a perfect 51-0 record. His final high school record was 168-28.
His parents are Lance and Tina Gehlhausen.
