by Covill Funeral Home
March 7, 2025
Michael Gary Wagstaff, 39, of Marbleton passed away at his home March 1, 2025. Michael was born May 9, 1985 in Jackson, Wyoming to Dennis and Sharon (Ley) Wagstaff. Mike grew up in Marbleton and attended schools in Big Piney and graduated from Big Piney High School in 2004. After high school he served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 2004 to 2008 which included two tours overseas in Iraq to include the city of Ramadi. He finished his military service and was honorably discharged in 2012.
He married his sweetheart, Tabitha McAmis May 14, 2011 in Pinedale and together they were raising their three daughters: Addison, Elizabeth and Laura.
Mike served his community as a lieutenant with Sublette County Unified Fire for 20 years and was an EMT with the Sublette County Health Department for four years. He has worked for the Town of Big Piney as water management operator for the past 3-˝ years.
Mike never considered himself a church-going man, but he was a believer, and he felt closest to God in the mountains; that is the place he loved to be. He was an outdoorsman that loved hunting, fishing and camping; but his family was his number one hobby and he cherished them most. Mike suffered both silently and privately with PTSD and physical pain for many years; he kept that struggle very close even unbeknownst to his closest family.
Mike is survived by his wife, Tabitha; daughters Addison Kinnamon, Elizabeth Wagstaff and Laura Wagstaff; father Dennis Wagstaff and mother Sharon Gjesdal; and sisters Kendra Wheeler and Kayla Gardipee.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 26, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Marbleton Senior Center.
Memorial contributions in Mike’s memory can be offered to help with his daughters’ future college educations at USAA routing# 314074269 account# 0339901055.
