Shakespeare in the Park returns with “Macbeth”
Pinedale production to be held in the American Legion Park July 22

The Pinedale Fine Arts Council is proud to present the Wyoming Shakespeare Festival Company’s production of William Shakespeare’s tragedy “Macbeth” in Pinedale on Sunday, July 22 at 2 p.m. in the American Legion Park.

“Macbeth” contains some of Shakespeare’s greatest poetry. It also offers one of literature’s most striking accounts of an individual soul’s descent into the darkness of evil, and its resulting isolation from society.

Macbeth, a soldier applauded for his heroism, is led to imagine his merits are limitless. He desires absolute power and convinces himself that fate will provide it, if he plays an active role by overstepping the proper order of things. His rejection of morality and its consequences-the loss of his soul and the disruption of the society he influences-is horrifying. This is a drama that is as terrifyingly tragic as the plots and wars of real life usurpers-those who take power wrongfully.

WSFC’s production of “Macbeth” will provide great family entertainment. Audiences will be on the edges of their blankets, in the American Legion Park, as the Witches entice, the Kings party, the Soldiers battle, the Women scheme and beautiful children look on and wonder about the world they are inheriting.

“Shakespeare in the Park,” as it is commonly referred to as, is presented every summer in Pinedale by the Pinedale Fine Arts Council. In the past, the productions have been held on the Pinedale library lawn, but due to library construction, this year’s production will be held at the American Legion Park.
