To support imperiled attorneys and judges in Pakistan

(Cheyenne) - Wyoming State Bar President Gay Woodhouse of Cheyenne invited all Wyoming attorneys to join her in a Solidarity Rally in front of the Federal Courthouse in Cheyenne on Monday, November 26th, at 12:00 p.m. The rally is in support of the imperilled attorneys and judges in Pakistan.

In an unusual call to action, the American Bar Association urged attorneys throughout the United States to protest the beating and imprisonment of thousands of attorneys and judges in Pakistan since the country's president, Gen. Pervez Musharraf, imposed an emergency rule on November 3. Similar rallies have been held throughout the country.

“All citizens should respect the rule of law. It is the foundation of a civilized society,” said Woodhouse. “I’m deeply disturbed by the recent events in Pakistan, and lawyers all over Wyoming and all over the country need to take a stand and express support for their colleagues across the globe.”

The rally will include a solemn and dignified march around the Federal Courthouse followed by comments from Wyoming State Bar President, Gay Woodhouse.
