Pinedale man killed in roll-over accident near Big Piney
Richard Hussey victim in crash, Keith Fila injured
March 30, 2009

Pinedale resident Richard L. Hussey, age 28, was killed Monday morning, March 30, in a one-vehicle roll-over accident near Big Piney. His passenger, Keith Fila, age 27 of Huntington, Massachusetts, was airlifted to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls, Idaho.

According to the Wyoming Highway Patrol, Mr. Hussey was westbound on WYO 350 around 9:30 am on Monday driving a 1986 GMC model pickup truck. Roads were dry at the time of the crash. His vehicle drifted off onto the shoulder approximately 3.5 miles west of Big Piney, at which time he overcorrected the vehicle’s steering to the left. This caused the vehicle to go into a broadside slide going across the center line and then off the roadway into the eastbound side barrow ditch. The vehicle then struck a buck rail pole style right-of-way fence. A section of the pole fence penetrated the windshield going into the cab striking Hussey directly in the face. The vehicle then overturned ½ time resting on its roof. Mr. Hussey died at the scene. Mr. Fila had to be extricated from the vehicle. Neither man was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
