Monday, April 5, 11:39AM: The National Weather Service in Riverton has issued a Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow, which is in effect until 6AM Tuesday. The Winter Weather Advisory is no longer in effect. The Warning includes the Upper Green River Basin and Foothills, South Lincoln County, Pinedale, Big Piney, LaBarge, Farson, Kemmerer and Cokeville.

Periods of heavy snow has begun across the area early Monday morning and will become steadier through the afternoon. South to southeast wind will enhance snowfall Monday in the Upper Green River Basin north of Big Piney and in the Upper Green River foothills. A cold front will cross the area late Monday evening and will be accompanied by brief moderate to heavy snowfall. Snow will continue later Monday night and taper off around dawn.

Snowfall of 2 to 3 inches storm total accumulations of 5 to 10 inches are expected across most of the area. Lighter snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches are expected in the southern Green River basin. Higher accumulations of 8 to 12 inches will be possible in the northwestern Upper Green Rriver foothills, including Bondurant.

Visibility will be from a quarter mile to near zero at times in the heaviest snow showers.

Roads will be wet and slushy in spots Monday and then become snow covered Monday evening and tonight. Travel could become hazardous after sunset.

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an emergency. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
