Bridger-Teton Resource Advisory Council to accept project proposals
To enhance or restore forest ecosystems, health and water quality
by Bridger-Teton National Forest
December 17, 2010

The Bridger-Teton Resource Advisory Committee (RAC) is seeking applications for projects that would enhance forest ecosystems or restore and improve land health and water quality on the Bridger-Teton National Forest within Lincoln and Sublette Counties.

According to RAC Chairman Brenda Ashworth, "the RAC committee will have nearly $300,000 to spend on projects this year", made available to Lincoln and Sublette Counties through the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act.

The RAC works closely with the Forest Service to recommend projects that will benefit Forest health, fish, wildlife, soils, watersheds and other resources; maintain roads, trails, and other infrastructure; or control noxious weeds. Proposals will be accepted by both the Forest Service and cities and counties located in the designated counties.

RAC projects must be located on National Forest System Lands in Lincoln and Sublette Counties or on other nearby lands if the project will benefit the resources on the National Forests. Projects can be completed by Forest Service personnel, through partnership agreements, or by open-bid contracting with individuals and corporations.

Project proposals are due by the close of the business day on Tuesday, February 1, 2011.

RAC Project Preview forms and instructions are available at Forest Service offices in Kemmerer, Big Piney, Pinedale, Afton and Jackson Hole, or on the Bridger-Teton National Forest website at www.fs.fed.us/r4/btnf/.

The RAC will begin reviewing projects for possible funding during their meeting on February 14, 2010 at 5:00 at the Forest Service Office in Kemmerer, WY. The public is welcome to attend the RAC meetings.

For more information on the Committee or to learn more about proposing projects, please contact the RAC Designated Federal Officer, Tracy Hollingshead at 307-877-4415.
