May 10, 2011

Sublette County School District #1 held their 2011 Spring Band Concert at the Pinedale Auditorium on Monday, May 9th. The show included performances bands from 5th grade through high school.

The highlight of the evening was a special presentation from the students in the bands to band director, Craig Sheppard, who is retiring after teaching band at the schools for 40 years. The band members worked to get the band room named in Craig Sheppard’s honor. They had to go through the school administration and also the school board to get all the approvals. The plaque read, "This room is dedicated to R. Craig Sheppard for his 40 years of commitment and service to the Pinedale Band Program. 1971-2011."

The senior class presented Mr. Sheppard with a picture of their senior class, which they all signed the frame. The students also presented Mr. Sheppard, and his wife Ellen, with a custom-made metal sign for their house that says "The Sheppards" with cut-outs of mountains and trumpets.

At one point, Mr. Sheppard invited the parents of the senior class to join him on stage, and then he read a story about each member of the senior class.
