Public comments on 2011 Wyoming Content and Performance Standards accepted through June 15

The Wyoming Department of Education (WDE) is accepting public comments on the draft documents of the 2011 Wyoming Content and Performance Standards for mathematics, language arts, fine and performing arts, foreign languages, and health education through June 15, 2011.

The standards are available for review and comment on the WDE website at http://edu.wyoming.gov/.

The documents posted are draft documents which include a rationale and performance level descriptors (PLD’s) for each content area; further revision will be undertaken by the content committees this summer after reviewing public comments.

This is the first of two public comment periods.A final public comment period will take place in the fall of 2011.

The Wyoming Content Standards for mathematics and language arts have incorporated the Common Core State Standards, which the State Board of Education has agreed to adopt. For this reason, these standards and benchmarks cannot be changed. The Wyoming Department of Education is seeking input on the rationale and performance level descriptors found in the draft documents for these two content areas.
