Clear Creek culvert replacement to improve Colorado Cutthroat Trout fisheries habitat
Construction on La Barge Creek road to begin Sept. 10th
by Bridger-Teton National Forest
September 10, 2012

The Kemmerer Ranger District of the Bridger-Teton National Forest will be replacing a 4-foot diameter culvert on the La Barge Creek road at Clear Creek, approximately 3.5 miles south of the TriBasin divide junction and approximately 32-miles west of La Barge.

The culvert will be replaced with a 16-foot span bottomless concrete box culvert. Construction is scheduled to begin September 10th and should be complete by the end of September. A bypass route will be constructed to allow traffic around the construction site. Motorists are asked to slow down and use caution when driving through the bypass and be aware of construction equipment in the area. The bypass will be passable by horse trailers.

This new structure is one of many in the La Barge Creek drainage that are improving habitat for the native population of Colorado River cutthroat trout. The new crossing will allow Clear Creek to flow under the road at an even grade that is unconstructed. This will provide a natural course for fish to navigate through easily. This project is being funded through grants from the Fish and Wildlife Service and Bureau of Land Management.
