Hydrologic outlook for western Wyoming
Minor flooding possible in low-lying areas
by National Weather Service - Riverton Wyoming
April 6, 2017

Accelerated snowmelt runoff at the 7500 to 8000 foot elevation due to warming temperatures Thursday and Friday and rain over the weekend will cause significant rises along small creeks and streams.

Temperatures are expected to warm into the upper 40s to middle50s at the 7500 to 8000 ft Thursday and Friday afternoons (April 6 & 7, 2017). Rain is expected over the western Wyoming basins by Friday night spreading over central Wyoming basins by Saturday afternoon. Windy conditions over the area will aid in continuing the snowmelt through the evening hours. Basin temperatures are expected to cool down to the 30s at the 7500 to 8000 foot elevation by Sunday.

Accelerated snowmelt runoff will allow significant rises in small creeks and streams Saturday afternoon through Sunday morning. Small creeks and stream levels may reach bankfull in several locations. Minor flooding of low lying areas is a strong possibility through the latter part of the weekend.
