White Pine Ski Area invites everyone to come up on Saturday, December 16th from 9AM to 2PM for their Soft Opening and Snow Dance Competition. Even though the lifts and tubing hill won’t be running, come up and participate in the Snow Dance Competition fun and check things out. There will be prizes for those with the best Snow Dance moves for in-person participants (gift cards, free lunches, free drink tickets). This is an opportunity to buy your discounted season passes, enroll the kiddos in ski/snowboard instruction programs, tune up and wax skis, join Ladies program, get a drink in the bar, meet the staff, buy a gift certificate and more. (The lifts and tubing hill will not be open). Discounted season passes still available until opening day. Snow Dance Competition videos can be uploaded until opening day. The tentative Full Opening for White Pine Ski Area is Thursday, December 21st. Lifts run 9AM – 4PM. Opening is subject to snow conditions. The holiday hours will be open every day Thursday, December 21st to New Year’s Day, Monday, January 1st (except closed for Christmas, Monday, December 25th).
White Pine Ski Area is located about 10 miles from Pinedale in the Bridger-Teton National Forest in the Wind River Mountains. It operates under a special use permit from the Bridger-Teton National Forest. The mountain holds about 29 runs of differing challenge for downhill skiing or snowboarding. There are two lifts, and typically no lift lines up to mid or upper mountain. There is a good balance of groomed/ungroomed downhill runs, tree skiing runs, plus a terrain park with jumps and slides. Along with downhill skiing, there are nearby groomed cross-country ski trails. The road to the ski area is paved and regularly plowed, and there is a large parking lot. The resort has cabins available to rent as well as daily food service and ski school.
They rent downhill alpine skis, snowboards, boots, helmets, poles, Edgie Wedgies, and kids training harnesses, out of their ski shop at the lodge. They also have brand-new, high tech, state-of-the-art tuning, testing, and waxing equipment for your skis and snowboards. They do not rent items such as jackets, bibs, pants, or goggles, warm gear is available to purchase in their retail store. Their Rental Shop is open from 8:30am to 4:30pm Friday through Monday during the season and every day during the Christmas/New Year’s holiday break.
