Pinedale hosts Alpine Ski Meet at White Pine
by Coach Jeff Wohl
February 23, 2026

Pinedale Wranglers’ Alpine Ski Team sends a huge thanks to White Pine Ski Resort, Sublette County Ski and Snowboard Association, and all the volunteers who came out to help with the Pinedale home meet this past Friday and Saturday, February 20 & 21, 2026.

The Pinedale Wranglers Alpine Race Team hosted two giant slalom races at White Pine with beautiful weather and good skiing by many athletes. Competitors traversed a course that goes from nearly the top of the mountain to the bottom on the Wind River ski run, reaching speeds of over 35 miles an hour with 37 dramatic big sweeping turns. The combined times for both runs were just over two minutes.

The varsity men finished the meet a close runner-up behind Jackson. The varsity women, while having some really excellent skiing, did not all finish and ended up coming in third.

Dune McCartney had an excellent weekend, finishing second both days. Roxanne Melinkovich got a career best in GS finishing both races fifth and sixth.

Coach Wohl said, "I am really happy how everyone is skiing. We’ve been battling illness throughout the season. I can’t wait till we have a race where everyone is healthy when we can get everyone down the hill without any DNF’s. Both the men and women are real contenders."

The ski team now will have their first week without competition in over a month. They’ll take the beginning of the week to rest and get healthy, and then spend two days training before the team gets ready to head to the State Championship in Jackson the first week of March. We encourage the Pinedale community to come ski at Snow King and support these fine athletes March 6th and 7th.

From there, many Pinedale athletes will qualify to represent Team Wyoming mid-March in Loveland, Colorado at the Western US High School Championships, where they will get to meet and compete against the best high school skiers in the West.
